You may have seen the word rel=nofollow being on the internet, but what is rel=nofollow ?
What is rel=nofollow ?
Rel=”nofollow” is an attribute of an HTML, it lets the search engines know that the hyperlink should not influence in the search engine’s index.
Why use Rel=”nofollow”
You will want to use rel=no follow when you place an external link on your website. This is so if that link ever gets taken down, the search engines will not see it as a broken link, which will help you when you apply SEO to your website.
How to use Rel=”nofollow”
In wordpress or influx entrepreneur you will see this in the backend:
Steps to use rel=nofollow :
- Click the text button which will take you to the html
- Place the code: rel=nofollow next to the link (Example Below)
- Save and Publish the article
For Example Using rel=nofolow:
<a href=”http://example.com/article” rel=”nofollow”>Article Example</a>
<a href=”http://wordpress.org/” rel=”nofollow”>wordpress!</a>
You now see the url link then rel=”nofollow” is placed then the text of the link. For safety I would do this to all external links and it will also help build a good ratio between unfollow and follow links. Using the rel=nofollow will help you with search engine optimization.
